In May I started to help with a fellowship for Chinese students at the college and university, where even the leaders were young Christians. Since they didn't really have that much experience with leading worship, I gave them a brief worship workshop series (which I have yet to share on here, actually).

Re: With vs For

Interesting thoughts. How goes the pursuit? I know the year isn't quite over yet, but have you been strengthened and led? Have you become less in order to make Him more?

Re: Pride and the Fall

"We can lead these songs and make them sound good" is not what I would think of as being prideful. For once, you said "we"; it's a team effort, and you're not overweening your own id. And you say you "make them sound good". Well, maybe if you were thinking "make them sound fantastic, way better than hillsong right up in hurr and it is all because of me and my greatness" then okay, I can see that being pride.

There's nothing wrong in taking a humble pride in knowing the gifts God gave you and how to use them. He doesn't want you to be ignorant of them. He wants you to know what you are best at so that you can better share it with other people and help improve their lives - thereby glorifying Him. Where pride goes wrong is when what you are proud of, you attribute to yourself - and you keep for yourself instead of recognizing that you are gifted in order to share those gifts. But don't blame yourself for the shortcomings of others when you have tried your best.

Re: Brain Flows Like Water 023: Unknown Unknowns

Hi there! To my knowledge there still isn't a CCF/ACF like the ones at U of T, Ryerson, or anywhere else people from AFC-hosted events may have gone to, **BUT** the Christian fellowship on the UOIT campus is a truly great place to learn, grow and *fellowship*! It's called "Campus Church", and they're very involved on campus and meet up on a very regular basis; the fact that our campus is so small provides allows lots of opportunities to easily meet up and have impromptu prayer and worship sessions or just hang-out. It's a non-denominational fellowship* and doesn't have an underlying structure like InterVarsity, ACF, etc. You can join a "Connect Group" which is like a cell group conducting Bible studies and sometimes even hanging out. There's a praise and worship night almost every Sunday evening.

*If you're living on campus, or close to it, Calvary Baptist Church (Rossland/Ritson Rd) has a school bus for students on campus. Calvary Baptist is a strong supporter of Campus Church in any way it can. For university/college students, there's a gathering of young adults after the first Sunday service called Kerygma. There's also a weekly Bible study at various locations (in addition to the church) on Thursday evenings -- appropriately called "Thursday Bible League".You can find the Campus Church Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/gr... website is www.campuschurch.ca, but it seems to be down at the moment... :(
More info on Calvary Baptist Church can be found at www.calvary.on.ca

Feel free to ask any more questions if you need!

Re: Brain Flows Like Water 023: Unknown Unknowns

I googled UOIT CCF/ACF, and found this blog. I know my comment is pretty random as I realize you posted this years ago, but thought I'd try asking whether you know any CCF/ACF-like fellowships close by. Doesn't have to be uni-affiliated. Could be in a church, at someone's house, any info on this would be very helpful! Thanks

Re: Protected: Three Words From My Mouth

<3

This reminds me of James 2:20-26, and you now have license to call me a major dork ;)

Re: That Which I (May) Know Of, but Not How To…Yet?

http://saint-sally.livejour...

Also:

https://thepathtolight.com/...

I studied and presented on this book in my fourth year seminar, Feminist Philosophies of Love. I had the same problem as many of you who posted. I wasn't able to print to the printer attached to the USB port of this router. While I was able to find a utility on the Asus website to help fix this issue (http://ca.asus.com/en/Netwo... It would only work on a WinXP computer. The utility would crash when trying to use it on a Vista / Win7 computer. I contacted Asus tech support and they were able to give me these instructions which did work and can be used for Linux, Mac, etc. so long as you know how to create printer ports in whatever OS you are using and you know how to install the printer drivers. The piece I was missing was the printer port settings. The instructions above were wrong. Read below for the proper settings. The following instructions are for intermediate to advanced users.

Create a standard TCP/IP printer port using the IP address of the router. Do not use the automatic driver query option because it doesn't work and just wastes 5 minutes of time. Some OS will try to query the TCP/IP address. When it returns the message that the device isn't on the network, just ignore it and choose custom settings. For protocol use LPR and for the queue name use LPRServer (exactly as shown). Do not use RAW protocol, do not use LPR byte counting and do not enable SNMP. Add your printer and install your print drivers. That's it.

Re: Moving On From Stone: Part 3

Probably. The smaller campus size also helps. From experience, all my profs were quite willing to help answer Q's and go out of their way, regardless of class size. Of course, some profs are more helpful, relational and funny than others...

Re: A Film By Chris Forbes: Ask A UOIT Prof

damn....i was going to watch some UOIT profs to see how they are. i was gonna apply there :(
